How spawn rarity works
Cobblemon rolls a rarity bucket for each spawn attempt, then picks a Pokémon from that bucket whose biome, time, and weather conditions match the exact block it's spawning at. That's why an “ultra-rare” can still feel impossible — you need the lucky roll and the right conditions at once.
| Bucket | Overworld odds | Fishing odds |
|---|---|---|
| Common | 94% | 83.25% |
| Uncommon | 5% | 11.25% |
| Rare | 0.5% | 4.13% |
| Ultra-rare | 0.2% | 1.38% |
Default odds per spawn attempt in Cobblemon 1.8 — servers can tune them.
Reading the spawn conditions
- Biomes — where the spawn can happen. Entries like “Forest” cover every forest-family biome; “Overworld” means any overworld biome.
- Context — land, underwater, water surface, seafloor, or fishing. Fishing spawns only happen on a rod cast, sometimes with a minimum Lure level.
- Structures — some Pokémon are tied to Ancient Cities, End Cities, Woodland Mansions, or Cobblemon's own habitat ruins. No structure, no spawn.
- Requirements — extra conditions like nearby blocks (bone blocks, redstone, leaves), moon phases, slime chunks, or pitch-black light levels.

Frequently asked
How do Pokémon spawns work in Cobblemon?
Every spawnable Pokémon is assigned a rarity bucket (common, uncommon, rare, or ultra-rare) plus conditions: which biomes it appears in, time of day, weather, light, and sometimes a required structure or nearby block. The game rolls a bucket first — common wins 94% of rolls, ultra-rare only 0.2% — then picks a Pokémon whose conditions match the spot where it's spawning.
Where do legendary Pokémon spawn in Cobblemon?
They don't — not naturally. Cobblemon 1.8 ships legendaries like Mewtwo, Rayquaza, Lugia and the Regis fully modeled, but the base mod gives them no wild spawn pool. On survival servers they come from addon datapacks, server events, or commands. Every legendary's page in this database tells you its exact status.
How many Pokémon are in Cobblemon 1.8?
888 of 1,025 Pokémon are implemented and catchable-ready in Cobblemon 1.8; 829 of them spawn naturally in the wild and 157 can be pulled up by fishing. The rest arrive in future updates — filter this database with “Include Pokémon not in the game yet” to see what's coming.
How does fishing for Pokémon work?
Some species only come from casting a Poké Rod in the right water. Fishing has its own rarity odds (common 83.25%, uncommon 11.25%, rare 4.13%, ultra-rare 1.38%), and some catches need a minimum Lure enchantment level — the database lists lure requirements per spawn.
Do spawns change with the time of day?
Yes. Many species are day-only or night-only, and a few need dusk. The Time column shows each Pokémon's window, and you can filter the whole database to what's spawnable right now.
